The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office was founded in 1809 and is the principal law enforcement agency in the county. The Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement services to the people of Baldwin County through its Uniformed Services Command, Communications Command, and Investigation Command.

As an Officer of the Courts, the Sheriff is responsible for the service of court papers and documents through the Civil Affairs Command. Residents of Baldwin County may also purchase Pistol Permits from the Civil Affairs Command as well. The Sheriff also has the responsibility of maintaining the Sheriff's Corrections Center, which houses people arrested for various crimes.
